has received notice that Ann Wolfe, will soon fight a male boxer on
August 20, 2005, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, in Biloxi,
Mississippi.
This information has also been published on Insidewomensboxing.com where it
is stated that according to Wolfe's handlers, the Mississippi Boxing
Commission has approved the fight. In that write up it also
states that Brian Pardo of RPM Boxing and Ann's promoter, Brian Young,
maintain that Laila Ali is ducking Wolfe, and that Ann Wolfe will go
ahead in a career of fighting qualified male opponents---adding in essence,
that if Ali steps up to the plate to fight Ann, they would fight her.
Well they may "stake claim" that Ali is "ducking" Ann Wolfe...But
Valerie Mahfood's team stakes claim that Ann Wolfe (and/or Wolfe's
team) is ducking Mahfood!
Mahfood, KO'd Ann Wolfe in their first fight, and in a rematch
Wolfe won by a 10-round unanimous decision. These two boxers are 1-1
with each other, with Mahfood having the edge because she KO'd
Wolfe. |

So it is not at all that surprising to find
out from Team Mahfood that she (Mahfood) has been politely "passed over" for
the June 18th card that Ann Wolfe will be featured on. WBAN was told
that there has been no opponent named in that bout as of yet---even though
Mahfood was more than happy to take the fight!
Team Mahfood told WBAN the following, "Several
weeks ago there was a posting on this site that read "Ann Wolfe looking for
an opponent for June 18 in Memphis. Ann will fight anyone." Whoever made the
posting was crying about nobody will fight Ann, Ann is to strong, blah,
blah, blah. Well someone needs to tell the Wolfe Camp or Brian Young to
correct the postings to read "Looking for a fight for Ann Wolfe on June
18th, Ann will anyone except Valerie Mahfood."
Team Mahfood went on to say, "Brian Young was contacted about the fight and
we were told a contract will be on your fax tomorrow. Tomorrow never came
and finally after a couple of weeks we were told Ann was not fighting on
June 18th; therefore we were not on the card. We completely understood
because Brian is the promoter of the June 18th Tarver/Johnson fight and
Brian is Ann's promoter. It made perfect sense to Team Mahfood. Then on
insidewomensboxing.com and Brian Young had the same type of posting on that
site, saying that they were looking for a fight for Ann on June 18th.
Team Mahfood then went to Boxrec.com and they show Ann on the card.
Also, the State of Tennessee Boxing Commission has Ann's name on the card."
Team Mahfood added, "They told us her (Ann Wolfe) name had never been
removed from the card. We have been offered three contracts to fight Ann in
the past 18 months and they will not sign. I know Ann is not scared but
someone in her camp is. If they do not want to fight until they get a shot
at ALI then say so. After they told us that we were not on the card,
then we pursued the match with Natascha Ragosina in Germany, on July
9th. We just recently signed this contract. I think Brian Young knows
this and he knows we are a team of our word and when we sign----we honor
it." |
