(Chicago, IL) -- IWBF,
WBA, IBA Light Heavyweight and Middleweight Champ Leatitia “Baby Girl”
Robinson (13-0-0, 9 KOs) will face Cassandra Geiger (6-6-0, KOs 6), at
Club O Arena, Harvey, Illinois, at Thanksgiving Eve Boxing Classic,
November 23, 2005, presented by Hitz Boxing Promotions and NuFace
Entertainment.
Robinson was scheduled to fight in Canada, November 18 against “Tough
Woman” Shelly Ann Burton (7-2-0, 1KOs) but pulled out due to an injury
to cartilage in her nose.
For any boxer or promoter who may have called into question Robinson’s
confidence and heart, Robinson set the record straight on any statements
that are far from the truth.
“I will fight Shelly anytime, any day, said Robinson. It is ridiculous
to think I was scared to fight. You don’t have the success I’ve had as a
fighter and get soft. I’m closer than I’ve ever been to being ‘pound for
pound’ the best fighter in the sport and nothing and no one is going to
stop me from achieving my goal. Consulting with my doctor, we made a
decision that was best for my health and my longevity in this sport.
Make no mistake, I’m going to be around for a long time.”
Robinson has earned additional notoriety since she knocked out Mónica
Núñez last February in Atlanta. Robinson’s televised win on ESPN upped
the excitement on a showdown with Laila Ali. Currently Robinson’s camp
is engaged in talks with Laila Ali for a title match in 2006.
Cassandra Geiger’s last fight was against Vonda Ward at Gund Arena in
Cleveland, Ohio last July. Geiger lost to Ward by a unanimous decision
(88-100). |
