(JAN 5) In an article this week, on Whittier
Daily News, Top Rank’s Bob Arum said that a “white male” boxer, Kelly
Pavlik has not been able to be featured on boxing’s two largest networks
– HBO and Showtime, and that it has to do with Pavlik being “white.”
In this article it stated that
Pavlik has never fought on HBO, or on any of the Showtime’s main
cards- except the minor league version of ShoBox, for up and
coming fighters. |

Well, this sport has a
house full of women boxers, and WBAN has yet to see women featured on
these networks, except a select few sporadically featured throughout the
years. Maybe HBO and Showtime doesn’t like women boxers either…Do you
think?
Has ANYONE seen one female boxer on their “Minor League” ShoBox, for up
and coming boxers? Oh, you have seen up and coming boxers---if….a…they
are male!

HBO - HBO has worn out their old and tired excuses as to why they do
not feature women's boxing on their televised segment of their shows. It
is quite obvious that at this point and time that they (HBO) could
feature women boxers and create an interest on their shows for women in
the sport. December 2003
SHOWTIME -Refer to HBO for same comments, other than

it WAS the "NEW GENERATION" as they advertise----They would include
women boxers. December 2003

(Excerpt) Television Networks that continue to discriminate against
women boxers. Top on WBAN’s hit list is HBO, and Showtime.
These networks can give all of the excuses they care to about the
"reasons" of why they do not put women on their televised segment on
their cards----BUT in the opinion of WBAN it is no more than a sleazy
disguise for DISCRIMINATION.Link
