Last year, the Danish Boxing Association
decided to hold an annual international women's tournament in the
city of Vejle to support and encourage the sport of women's boxing
in Denmark. The first tournament will be launched next month
Danish amateurs have brought back many medals from international
tournaments and championships abroad - most noticeable Vinni
Skovgaard, who won the European Championship in 2004 & 2006 and a
bronze medal at the World Championship in 2005.
The Danish boxers now have the
opportunity to box before a home crowd, and to repay the hospitality
they have enjoyed at tournaments in other countries around the
world.
The Venus Box Cup takes place in Vejle from 19th to 22nd October and
will have participants from the following countries Canada, Denmark,
Finland, France, Gambia, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mongolia,
New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Russia, Sweden and Wales. So far the
following countries have named their participating boxers:

tournament as well as plenty of other information can be found on
this website:

and during the tournament.
Judging by the names already entered for the tournament - and
bearing in mind, that strong boxing nations like France, Italy,
Finland, Ireland and Romania are yet to name their teams - the
tournament is bound to be a real treat for followers of women's
amateur boxing.
The tournament is organised by The Danish Boxing Association and the
City of Vejle, and has been approved by the European Amateur Boxing
Association (EABA) and the World Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA)
as a calendar tournament.
