(SEPT 23) Last night at the Southport
Sharks Club on the Gold Coast, in Australia, Sharon “Wild Thing”
Anyos successfully defended her WBC world featherweight title, when
she stopped Esther Schouten of the Netherlands. Anyos told the news
media that it has been her hardest fight so far, and that she was
pleased that she won the bout this way.
In the fourth round, Schouten received a
cut over her left eye, and the ref had temporary halted the bout to
have the ring physician check out the cut. In the sixth round, at
1:37 seconds, the fight was stopped when Anyos threw a barrage of
combinations, which stunned Schouten. With Schouten on the ropes and
in no condition to return fire, the ref stopped the bout.
