(OCT 20) Newport Beach, CA: It might
sound like a broken record, when you refer to Roy Englebrecht’s
Battle In The Ballroom shows at the Irvine Marriott, but he is sold
out again, and this Thursday’s October 26th show is no exception, as
it becomes the 11th straight sellout!
What makes it even more unique is that the show features only four
round fights, six in all, with a mixture of all weights, just what
the Battle In The Ballroom crowd loves!
Local favorites Paul Velarde and Billy Bailey will look to keep
winning streaks going, as Tustin’s 1-1 Velarde faces 2-4 Carlos
Javier Parra, and the Marriott’s own “Rocky” Billy Bailey out of
Bakersfield, looks for his third straight win, facing 1-1 Heriberto
Cruz.
2-1 Miriam Nakamoto, who scored a big win over undefeated Kia
Malpartida at the Marriott in April, returns against San Antonio’s
0-1-1 Tammy Franks, and in a heavyweight match up, San Diego’s 1-0
Lawson Baker meets former movie actor Kelani Bastista who is making
his pro debut.
Three young prospects will also be in action on the Marriott card as
1-0 Jesus Hernandez meets pro debuter Ivan Castenada and debuter
Hector “Teco” Serrano faces Fresno’s Alejandro Cortez.
Doors open at 6:30pm with the first bout set for 7:30pm. The Battle
In The Ballroom concludes it’s 22nd year with a December 14th
finale.
