(MAY 3) Adelaida Ruiz of Lynwood,
California, with an amateur record of 31-2 will resume her
amateur career after an 18 month layoff and will be competing at
the upcoming 2007 US Championships in Colorado Springs,
Colorado, from June 1-7. Ruiz will be fighting at 119 lbs.
Miss Ruiz, a two-time 125 lb. National Junior Champion will be
competing in her first major tournament since 2005.
Team Ruiz told WBAN, "Future
plans are to continue to box at the amateur level through 2008,
with a possibility of turning pro in 2009."
