On Friday, May 18th,
at the Centro Recreational Las Vegas, Barranquilla, Colombia, Junior
Welterweight Darys Pardo KO'd Consuelo Paternina in
the first round of a scheduled eight round bout---It looks like
Paterrnina is a handmade opponent for Pardo, fighting her three
times in a row, and being KO'd in all three matches. (Need WBAN say
anymore); Welterweight Liliana Palmera had a four-round
draw with Angie Paola Rocha; Super Bantamweight Francia
Bravo TKO'd Olga Julio in the third round of a scheduled
four-round bout.
In Montevideo, Uruguay, and promoted by Amaya & Vanrell
Producciones, junior welterweight Light Welterweight Chris Namus,
140, won a four-round unanimous decision over Maria Eugenia Lopez,
139. Final judges scores were 40-36, 40-38, and 40-36. Both boxers
were making their pro debuts.
In Argentina,
Claudia Andrea "Girl 10" Lopez, 119, won a ten-round unanimous
decision over Argentinean Maria Potenza, 119, to capture the
vacant UBC world super bantamweight title. In another women’s bout,
pro debuter Soledad Matthysse won a four-round unanimous decision
over Gabriela "Bombarder" Becerra. The two fought in the
featherweight division.
At the Beacon
Theatre, in New York, junior bantamweight Eileen Olszewski,
112, of New York, NY, won a six round unanimous decision over
Kimberly Tomes, 113 ½ , of Brooklyn, NY. Final judges scores
were 60-53, 59-54, 59-54. It had been reported before this event
took place that Maureen Shea was supposed to fight
LaKeysha Williams, of Philadelphia, PA, but WBAN was told from
an insider who was present at the Duddy Press Conference, who said:
“I was at the Duddy Press conference today."
In Udine, Italy,
Italy's Stefania Bianchini won a 10-round unanimous decision
over Maria Rosa Tabusso for the WBC flyweight title.
On Saturday, May 19th, in Saale, Germany, junior middleweight
Svetlana Kuhl won a four-rounder by points over Sarka
Stoklaskova.
Lastly, at the
Color Line Arena, in Hamburg, Germany, promoted by Universum Box
Promotion, Karolina Lukasik, 153¾, won a 10-round unanimous
decision over Heidi Hartmann, 150. The two were fighting for
the WIBF Junior Middleweight title. Per-Åke Persson said in a
news media release, "In the walkout bout Karolina Lukasik retained
the WIBF jr middle title with a points win over Heidi Hartmann.
It was scored 100-89 on all cards. Hartmann was down
in the ninth."
