(AUG 14) Octavius James has announced
that northwest Indiana's most popular boxing series will return on
Friday, September 21st, when One In A Million Inc. presents "United
We Stand" at the Radisson at Star Plaza in Merrillville. Topping the
bill, the region's most popular fighters in action-packed bouts,
plus the professional debuts of James' newly signed prospects.
In the main event, One In A Million's franchise player, undefeated
middleweight Michael Walker (16-0-1, 10 KOs), returns to the ring
following his impressive second round knock out of former 2000 US
Olympian Dante Craig on the undercard of HBO Pay-Per-View's August
4th broadcast. Walker's victory catapulted him to the top of
boxing's watch list and won him rave reviews by on-hand industry
experts including:
"...Walker remained unbeaten in impressive fashion..." Michael
Hirsley, Chicago Tribune
"...a promising middleweight..."
Roman Modrowski, Sun Times
"...never shining brighter and rapidly becoming a fighter to watch
in an already red-hot middleweight division."
Jake Donovan, BoxingScene.com and FoxSports.com
In the evening's co-main event, undefeated female phenom "Merciless"
Mary McGee (10-0, 5 KOs) of Gary will fight an opponent to be
announced in what will likely be her last bout before fighting for a
world title.
"I'm in final negotiations for Mary to
fight for a major title in October," James said. "She needs to look
spectacular on September 21st in anticipation of her title shot."
On June 16th, the city of Metropolis, home of DC Comic's Superman,
proved to be just as supportive of flesh and blood "Superman,"
middleweight Derrick Findley (8-2, 5 KOs). Findley, fighting at
Harrah's Casino in Metropolis, Illinois, won a decision over then
undefeated Richard Pierson. Superman returns to the ring on
September 21st against an opponent to be announced.
In addition, fans will not want to miss the professional debut of
One In A Million's exciting new female prospect, featherweight
Evette Collazo. A 2006 and 2007 Chicago Golden Gloves Champion,
Collazo is known for her all-action style.
James' other newly signed prospects, welterweight Ed Ochoa of Hobart
and light heavyweight Jimmy Perez of Hammond, also make their
professional debuts at the Radisson.
Rounding out the card, lightweight "Dangerous" Don Moore (12-0-1, 10
KOs) of Gary and featherweight Jose Guzman (3-0, 2 KOs) of Michoacan,
Mexico, face opponents to be announced.
