(DEC 6) The 5th ProSieben Fightnight
this year will take place in Hamburg on Friday 7th December and will
feature a rematch between Susi Kentikian vs Nadia Hockmi. The two
first met on 25th May in Cologne which ended in a split decision in
favour of Kentikian. That fight was for the WBA Flyweight title,
which is also at stake for Friday's encounter as well as the now
vacant WIBF title, which newly retired Regina Halmich held for over
a decade.
If their first fight is anything to go by, we can expect an even and
very competitive fight. For Kentikian, who can boast an impressive
record of 18-0-0 with 14 KO's, Hockmi clearly proved to be her
toughest opponent so far. Hockmi is no novice, as far as title
fights are concerned, it is in fact 5th attempt on a world title.
She has fought Bettina Csabi twice in Hungary, Anita Christensen in
Denmark and Kentikian in Germany for world titles. She also fought
Simona Galassi for the European Title in Italy. Hockmi has never had
the luxury of fighting a title fight in her native France, which may
account for her lack of success in her previous championship fights.
She has been the victim of some dubious decisions in the past -
Galassi in Bergamo and Anita Christensen in Copenhagen springs to
mind.
It will be Susi Kentikian's 4th defence of her WBA belt, and her
first attempt for the title she wants most of all, that of the WIBF.
Right from the start of her boxing career, she has been inspired by
and seen Regina Halmich as a role model. She will do her utmost to
keep Halmich's "old" belt in Germany. Kentikian is named as one of
the crown princesses to the throne left empty after Regina Halmich,
and will be the first to battle for the favour of the fans, after
the queen's abdication last week. Her closest rivals are Ina Menzer
and Alesia Graf, who has recently been in some very exiting bouts
against very good Mexican opponents. Kentikian's youth (20 years
old) and her entertaining and powerful boxing style leaves her with
very good odds to become the next boxing darling of Germany.
ProSieben fight night will air on Friday 7th December 10:40 PM CET.
