(JULY 15) This week WBAN conducted an
interview with Lucia Rijker about her corporation, Rijker Striker
Inc., she has developed that incorporates all of her talents and
knowledge that she has gained throughout the last 26 years of
competing in and outside the ring.
TL Fox: You started Rijker Striker, Inc. in about February of 2007?
Rijker: Actually I started it in 1999, it is just that it became
more active throughout the years. As I was competing, I was also
exploring my gift as a coach and speaker, and inspirator, so to
speak. But, I also focused on the company as a corporation --
businesswise.
TL Fox: Since you have been created Rijker Striker, Inc., have you
had any of the women boxers who have grabbed onto this coaching you
are doing, or is this something new where you are going to getting
more women boxers involved?
Rijker: I am coaching a young female----I am doing that voluntarily,
but I also need to be aware that I need to make a living. But, I was
approached by a female fighter that wanted a private seminar with
me, unfortunately I realized that the demands of that is expensive
for some people, so I developed a way for female fighters to utilize
my coaching and advising, by having the fighter send me video of
their training, or fights, and I critique them on what they should
be working on, and they check in with me. It really depends on what
their individual needs are.
TL Fox: You talked to WBAN in February of 2007, about a seminar you
were going to have at the Olympic Training Center in Holland, did
that seminar take place? If so, how did it go?
Rijker: Yes, the seminar did take place. It was a lot of work to
promote and create my own system of peak performing, with a whole
new approach to sports. The seminar went very well and was geared
toward women. The seminar received national coverage.
TL Fox: Can you give us some updates and what transitions you have
made in your life in the last couple of years or so?
Rijker: The last couple of years I have transitioned into
performing. I did a couple of TV shows, a show in Thailand where I
host a boxing team, a survival show in Norway, etc. Those things I
like---I am really passionate about, and it pays my bills. In that
transition time, I wasn’t earning any other way. So that was almost
a necessity, as well as a passion that I have. The coaching is a
passion that I have, and a talent that I have, and is something that
I really feel in my soul. I am in the process of writing a book, and
have a publisher. The book is about empowerment---whether it’s
through boxing, or whether it is through whatever job you do,
transform yourself into the best you can possibly be.
TL Fox: Lucia, where can people find the information on your website
to get in contact with you in regards to Rijker Striker, Inc.?
Rijker: There is a link on my website, www.luciarijker.net. There
will be additional information for those who are interested.
Thank you for taking the time to talk with WBAN about your Rijker
Striker, Inc., and what you plan to do as a coach.
