(JULY) This week, on July 21st, Carlette
Ewell signed the final papers for her bout in St. Maarten to take
place on September 27, 2008 against Gwendolyn O’Neil.
O’Neil presently holds the WIBC and
WIBA titles and reigns from Guyana, West Indies. Ewell is the
current UBC Cruiserweight World Champion and signed her contract for
that bout.
Ewell resides from Winston-Salem,
North Carolina. Ewell said about training in various
gyms, "I am in Winston, right now. I have been to Greensboro
and hope to work out in Salisbury and Mooresville in the weeks to
come. I want to move my energy all over the state of North Carolina
to take with me to St. Maarten."
The contract was signed on Monday
evening at Cartucci’s Italian Restaurant just after the launching
and Grand Opening of Cartucci’s in Mooresville, NC. The owners are
pleased to have Ewell grace them with her presence at their Opening.
“She is a real knock-out”, said Freddie Melsar, one of Cartucci’s
owners.
“We were happy to have her here, we
may have to create a dish in her honor”, said Tony Cartucci, the
other owner, who is also the head chef along with his father, Big
Tony in Cartucci’s kitchen.
City Council Members were present along with several business owners
and residents. Attendees came from near and far. Areas included
Mooresville, Lake Norman, Salisbury, Cornelius, Statesville,
Charlotte and New York City. The Chamber of Commerce and Board of
Directors were also in attendance to give support to the new
business.
Ewell is happy as she prepares for this bout said her trainers,
Eddie Gregg and Walter Johnson III. “ We have a winner on our
hands”, say’s Walter Johnson III.
