(AUG 1) Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero and
Carina "La Reina" Moreno join forces with Captain Richard Calderon
and the San Jose Police Department for the 25th annual "National
Night Out", a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the
National Association of Town Watch. Leaders will congregate at the
Alma Community Center (136 W Alma Ave, San Jose, CA 95110) Tuesday
August 5, 2008 at 6pm. The gang impacted youth in the Alma, Goodyear
Mastic, and Tamien communities, are the subject of focus. Alma is a
gang impacted area in San Jose.
"National Night Out" is designed to heighten crime and drug
prevention awareness, generate support for local anticrime programs,
strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
while sending a message to criminals, letting them know that
neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Last years (NNO)
involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups,
businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over
10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian
cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 35 million people
participated in (NNO) 2007. For more information on Nation Night Out.
