(AUG 5) — WBAN received a press
release yesterday in reference to Kaliesha “Wild Wild” West (10-0-0,
2 KO’s) who is calling out NABF #1 contender Terri Lynn Cruz
(16-5-2, 7 KO’s) after recent news surfaced that Cruz would be
fighting for the NABF Female bantamweight title on September 11,
2008, against Marianne Churbirka (4-4-0, 3 KO’s). [WBAN has not
received this upcoming fight info at this time]
In the press release, they said, "What
is surprising to West and her team is that Cruz who is the #1
contender for the NABF bantamweight title, balked at an offer to
fight West in July and is now scheduled to challenge Churbika who is
not well known and hasn’t fought since 2006."
In the release they stated, "West would like no more than a fair
chance at a shot for the title as she has earned it. For Terri Lynn
Cruz and her managers to take a fight for the title against a boxer
that hasn’t fought since 2006 is uncalled for. West would like to
give fans a fight that is fair and good for women’s boxing, which is
the top two bantamweight fighters in North America battling for the
vacant NABF Female bantamweight title."
[This release has been edited by WBAN. West is listed as #9
with WBAN as a featherweight. Cruz is listed as #5 as a
bantamweight ]
