(NOV 26) Bettina Völker (5-3-3) aims at
the European Title in Bantamweight when she enters the ring at
Rheinstrandhalle in Daxlanden, Germany on Saturday 29th November.
Romanian Corina Carlescu (5-1-1) will be in the opposite corner.
Völker told the newspaper Boulevard Baden: "I have studied videos of
my opponent on the internet, and I am preparing myself for a tough
fight. She has an aggressive forward style, and I will have to cope
with that.
The 36 year old Bettina Völker expects this to be one of
her last fights before retirement, so she is very determined to win
this title before she hangs up the gloves.
She began her career in
Kickboxing 18 years ago, and, encouraged by Jürgen Lutz, changed to
boxing in 1997, after a four year lay off. This will be Völker's
third attempt for an European Title, after facing Simona Galassi and
Hagar Shmoulefeld in previous unsuccessful title fights. Her last
appearance in the ring was in July this year, when she KO'ed Eva
Voranger of Slovenia.
There will also be three other womens' bouts scheduled for the card.
Welterweight Aljona Belevici will face Nicole Haustein;
while no opponents has yet been named for Asiye Ozlem Sahin (light
flyweight) an Kira Schnürer (Featherweight).
