(DEC 7) Missy Fiorentino underwent
successful surgery on Friday, December 5 to repair a torn cartilage
in the meniscus of her right knee, an injury suffered while training
for a November bout with Myriam Chomaz.
According to Shirley Ouellette,
Fiorentino's mother and manager, "the doctor said everything went
well. Missy is home resting and will begin therapy on Tuesday. She
is anxious for a fast recovery and hopes to resume training sometime
early in the new year."
Fiorentino is the current NABF super
featherweight title holder and the mandatory challenger for the WBC
super featherweight crown, currently held by Jelena Mrdjenovich.
