(DEC 24) WBAN has just received a
late result, that occurred on December 13, 2008, at the Cosmic Gym,
in Marabella, Trinidad and Tobago. Iva Weston, 178, won a six-round
unanimous decision over Margaret “Chico” Walcott [aka: Francis], of
Guyana.
According to our correspondent, Walcott seemed glove shy and
unprepared while Weston showed no ring rust and was dominant
throughout the six rounds. Walcot made Weston's work quite easy as
she Walcott very rarely made contact and even while attacking seemed
to be flinching. Final scores were 60-54, 60-54 and 60-55 Weston.
Weston returned to the ring after a 2 year layoff from the sport.
