(MAR 8) Last night Lisa "Bad News"
Brown was extremely successful in her homecoming to Trinidad and
Tobago, stopping Maribel Santana of the Dominican Republic at 1:39
of the 3rd round. Lisa wobbled Santana with a shot to the
head, followed with a body punch, and Santana (winded) turned her
back on Lisa and walked away from her, forcing the ref to stop the
contest. With the TKO victory, Lisa Brown adds the WIBA Super
Bantamweight Title to go along with her IFBA strap, and moves to
16-3-3, with 5KO's to her credit. Santana drops to 10-7-1.
Ria Ramnarine of Trinidad and Tobago was also successful in front of
the hometown fans, stopping Nancy Bonilla from Puerto Rico at 0:20
seconds into the 8th round. Ramnarine improves to 11-5, 2KO's.
Bonilla's record is now 3-6..
Lorissa Rivas who fights out of Las Vegas, with Mayweather in
her corner, scored a victory by DQ, 45 seconds into the 3rd round.
Leslie Lubaczewski's corner entered the ring after throwing in the
towel, and as a result Leslie was disqualified. Rivas now stands at
2-1, 1Ko, while Lubaczewski of West Virginia slips to 0-4.
Wendy Allen also from Trinidad and Tobago was successful in her
professional debut as she defeated Carolina Martinez of the
Dominican Republic by way of TKO at 1:34 of the 3rd round. Martinez
record slides to 3-8.
Tiana Sosa-Saney rounds out the perfect night for the female
contingency from Trinidad and Tobago, as she stopped Anne Howard of
Guyana at 1:18 of the 1st round. Sosa-Saney improves to 2-0, 1KO
with the win, while Howard falls to 0-5..
