(MAR 14) On April 11, 2009,  at the Emerald Queen Sarah Pucek and Merced Nunez will fight in a six round fight to see who is the best Featherweight in the Pacific Northwest. Nunez has to be the favorite with an outstanding 7-1-2 record, Pucek is 3-0-0. Nunez is coming off a six-round draw with Elizabeth Moreno and Pucek's last fight was a four rounder with Clara De la Torre. The difference may be the amateur record that is perhaps the sleeper information in both boxers package.

Pucek has a former amateur record of 15 fights, and some of these were very tough fights giving up weight as is often the case in the amateurs with female boxers. Pucek lost only four of these amateur fights and one was avenged in a rematch. Of the other three losses, two of those were at 145 lb. Pucek did not weigh this but her opponents did. The other loss was at the Canadian Nationals. The pro experience of Nunez may trump the amateur experience Pucek has behind her however it can’t be ignored. Pucek fought her first amateur fight within a month Nunez's pro debut. Both boxers are 21 years old.

Dave Allison,  Pucek’s Manager/Trainer said that he is aware it will be a tough fight and that they are in the underdog position however it is good a good fight for the local boxing scene.

"We could hang around and pad our record for three or more fights however I don’t believe I will improve Sarah taking this course. Boxing needs exciting and interesting fights and for boxing fans in this area this is a fight most boxing fans would like to see. We were offered another fight but I chose Nunez because I think it will be a great fight both fighters and the sport in this area", added Allison.

Allison added, "We have great respect for Nunez and what she has accomplished as a professional boxer and appreciate the opportunity to challenge her for the top spot as a female featherweight in this region. There is one common opponent and that is Clara De La Torre. Both Nunez and Pucek defeated De La Torre with the same scores in a unanimous decision. One difference here is Nunez was 4-1-0 when she fought De La Torre who had only one fought only once. A much more season versioned of De La Torre fought Pucek in her 7th fight Pucek was 2-0."
