Harvison vs. Garvin in Tulsa
by Bobby Dobbs
May 10, 2009

(MAY 10) In Tulsa, Oklahoma,  on Saturday former National Amateur Champion Brittany Harvison made her pro debut against Rozanne Garvin from New Mexico.

This was one of the best female fights I have ever seen. These two girls stood toe to toe for four rounds and at the end of the fight the crowd was chanting "one more round, one more round" and gave both fighters a standing ovation.

For the first two rounds Harvison out landed Padilla and clearly was the stronger puncher of the two. Padilla however never quit coming and Harvison tired badly in round three. Round four both fighters were tired and gave everything they had left, with a slight edge going to Garvin.

All 3 judges scored the fight exactly the same. Rounds 1 and 2 to Harvison. Rounds 3 and 4 to Garvin [Draw for the result]. Everyone in that room knew they had witnessed something special and both girls are a credit to the sport. IF all female fights like that, men’s boxing would quickly become the second tier of the sport!
