(JUNE 28) In an all-women's boxing
event that took place at the Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan, there were
six bouts on the card. In the main event, Nanako Kikuchi, 107½,
defeated Kayoko Ebata, 108, both from Japan, with a action-packed
10-round unanimous decision.
The two were fighting for
the OPBF women's light flyweight title. This was reported to be
the first-time OPBF title bout in Japan. Final judges scores
were 97-94, 97-94, and 96-94. (sixth bout)
In other boxing action, the night began with Noriko Ishikawa,
112, who won by a third round TKO (1:09), over Harue Kinoshita,
in a scheduled four-round bout.
Second bout, Mari Inamoto,118, won by a four-round majority
decision over Kai Johnson, 117. Final judges scores were 37-39,
37-39, 38-38.
Third bout, Mami Ito, 105, TKO'd Yumi Katayama, 105, in the
first round (1:51) of a scheduled four-round bout.
Fourth bout, Naoko Shibata, 103,
won a four-round majority decision over Yuko Kuroki, 103. Final
judges scores 39-37, 38-37, 38-38.
Fifth bout, Naoko Yamaguchi, 112, TKO'd (1:40) of the second round over Miki Kikukawa,112. The
bout was scheduled for six rounds.
