(APR 8) Former 4-time world champion,
Carina "La Reina" Moreno, joins her family tradition and opens up a
third restaurant "Tacos Moreno" in Capitola, California. The new
location is on 1601 West 41st Ave in the Kings Plaza. Tacos Moreno
in Santa Cruz opened up for business in 1982 by Esteban Moreno,
Carina's father. Brother Juan followed by opening up the second
location at UCSC in Merill College.
"This is a dream come true for
me, "said Carina. "I've always wanted to open up my own
restaurant, and carry on with the tradition my father set forth.
It's going to take a lot of hard work and dedication to make it
a success, but that's a challenge I look forward to."
Santa Cruz Weekly voted "Tacos
Moreno" one of the best Mexican Taquerias in the area, placing
second in their Gold Award.
Look for Moreno to be back in the ring sometime in the early
summer. An announcement will be made in the near future.
