(JULY 8) Frida Wallberg, of
Gothenburg, Sweden will be returning to the ring after a five-year
lay off. from the sport. Wallberg's last fight was against
Zarika Njeri alias Fatuma Zarika in Aarhus, Denmark on June 17,
2005. Wallberg suffered a back injury during the fight, which
forced her to hang up the gloves. She has now overcome her back
problems, and returned to the gym about a year ago.
Wallberg, a former amateur before
turning pro, had a successful amateur career with 48 wins
in 53 bouts, crowned by a gold medal at the 2001 Amateur World
Championships. She also showed great promise as a pro, with a
record of 6-0-0, when the injury abruptly stopped further
progress.
She is training in Gothenburg with her new trainer and promoter
Wally Munteanu. Her comeback fight will take place on August 21,
2010 in Benidorm, Spain against Irina Boldea. The fight is
scheduled for six rounds in the lightweight division.
Frida Wallberg is now the proud mother of a 3 year old daughter,
