(JULY 22)  Irvine, CA: For the second time in the last nine months, a world champion boxer has started a new career as a fight promoter by enrolling in Fight Promoter University. In November of 2009 former world champion Fernando Vargas enrolled in Fight Promoter University VI, and now current and five time WBC female minimum weight world champion Carina Moreno has enrolled in FPU VII set for August 3-6 in Irvine, California. Moreno who is still an active fighter with a 21-2 record is coming to FPU VII along with her trainer Rick Noble.

“Rick and Carina have contacted me several times over the past two years about promoting a title fight for her in her home town of Watsonville, but I just couldn’t fit it into my show schedule,” said FPU founder and promoter Roy Englebrecht. “Now they can learn all aspects of the fight promotions business and go back to Northern California and put on the show they have always wanted. Plus what we teach at FPU really fits into their local show/club concept.”

Fight Promoter University VII will feature 18 guest speakers from both the boxing and mixed martial arts world, as well as have all FPU students working at the Battle In The Ballroom show at the Irvine Marriott on August 5th.
