(JULY 31) WBAN has been notified
that there is another six-round title bout on the horizon, and
we would like to make a statement in regards to this latest trend in
the sport that will do nothing more than hurt it.
For the sake of the sport of women's boxing----the federations
who are sanctioning six round title "BABY BELT" fights need to
abolish this practice.
For those of you involved with
federations sanctioning "BABY BELTS" bouts you are truly causing
damage and credibility to the sport----seriously.
This year we have seen a decline in the caliber of title fights
that have been sanctioned by some of these organizations---but to
add to the deterioration of credibility are the creation of
six-round bouts for titles.
These six-round titles are no more than a
ridiculous rendition of "nothingness" -----meaningless,
"selling-your-soul" title bouts to collect sanctioning fees.
Boxing fans, WBAN, nor anyone else, who has an inkling of
knowledge of the sport---buy off on BABY BELT "six round bouts"
in any situation.
The ONLY kind of feedback that WBAN receives
in regards to "six round title bouts" is negative.
Women's boxing does not NEED any more BELTS.
Women's Boxing does
not NEED any more TITLES.
We, WBAN, nor anyone else in most cases, do not care about
"YOUTH" "INTERIM" INTERNATIONAL" "REGIONAL" "SEMI-WORLD"
"SOMETIMES WORLD" titles, and/or any other preposterous
titled-belts that some federations seem to dream up at a whim.
In conclusion, what we do need are women's boxing fights that
make sense on a card. We need women boxers to be treated with
respect, receive much better paid purses, and that the top women
athletes in this sport get an opportunity to show their talents
in the ring, and not be ducked and avoided.
