Retired professional boxer Cristy Code Red hasn't slowed down
since hanging up the gloves. Anxious to fill the void left from
boxing, Cristy took up road racing this spring and has tackled
the sport whole-heartedly. On July 30th, Cristy did the epic "4
Summit Challenge" ride which is 75 miles of steep mountainous
climbing.
Over 500 riders from all over the Pacific Northwest,
including Olympic Gold Medalist Kristen Armstrong, stormed the
mountains at record speed stopping only to refuel on water and
food. "I was pretty nervous going into this race," Cristy said.
"It's the hardest one I've ever done. But I trained hard and
hung in there. My boxing background helped me push through even
when I felt I had nothing left in me."
