(JUNE 15) On June 23, 2012,
at the Polideportivo de la Benemérita Universidad, in Puebla,
Mexico, Esmeralda "La Joya" Moreno (25-5-0, 10 KO), who is the
reigning WBC silver light flyweight world champion, finally got
the opportunity to contest for the absolute title.
" I have long awaited this
opportunity, on other occasions I went as a visitor, and a
weight that is not mine, but now will be in my division (light
flyweight) and in my country (Mexico). I hope to give a great
victory to my fans". Said Esmeralda.
About the champion, Japan's Naomi
Togashi (10-0-1, 5 KO), "La Joya" said: : "She is a very good fighter who is
undefeated, she always gives everything in the ring, I hope she
come well prepared, because now I will go in my weight and I'm
in the best shape of my career".
