Week Four: WBAN Weekly Review

(JAN 28) This week in #4, we have had some controversial issues take place.  First, we had word from other online news stories that Ava Knight wanted to take on a male boxer in an exhibition fight.

Secondly, after Cecilia Braekhus challenged Holly Holm this coming July, and  Holm accepting that challenge; we had Layla McCarter challenge Braekhus, and also Mia St. John put out a challenge. Braekhus did sign with one of the three for April 2013 in Denmark. She will be fighting Mia St. John.

With the signing of an April fight---this caused quite a stir for the fading possibility of a Holm vs. Braekhus fight.  Fresquez Productions sent out a press release with the following headline:  "Braekhus ducks Holm Mega-fight for St. John."

WBAN's thoughts on this:  Where does Braekhus state in the video challenging Holm, that she cannot fight anyone prior to coming to Las Vegas in July to take on Holm?  We listened to the video and in her last words Braekhus says, "I'll see you in Las Vegas."

WBAN hopes that all the "wishy-washy" talk stops, and that the Holm vs. Braekhus fight gets negotiated.  This IS the biggest fight of the year---so let's get it on!

WBAN Review Tidbits for the week

This following week, we will be adding Noemi Bosques to our Boxer Profiles segment.  Noemi is a new boxer on the scene, and we look forward to featuring her soon.  We also have a pending update ready to post this week on Sandy Tsagouris of Canada.

Okay lastly...the latest news about IBF/WBC world champion Ava Knight challenging a male boxer during a press conference recently: WBAN's read on this: This is in all probability no more than just "boxing buzz".  We did our homework on this news item, and we do not believe this would happen.  Our statement about mixed matches:   It is time to move on to something news worthy about the sport, than to talk about something that never worked in the past, and surely would not work in today's climate of the sport - male vs. female bouts are silly, and not worth the ink to talk about such fights.

Check in next week for "Week Five-WBAN Weekly Review"!  For all the results of the week, you can go directly to our results segment on WBAN.
