The president of the World Boxing Council, Dr. Jose Sulaiman
Chagnon, enhanced this week the strength of the current WBC light
flyweight champion, Adrian “Confesor” Hernandez, who is about to
make the second defense of the title against the Nicaraguan Yader Cardoza.
This card was officially announced
this week by the president of
Punch Sports Promotions, Sergio Cortes, who said: “This event
will take place next Saturday May 11 at the Agustin Millan gym
of the City of Toluca Mexico, and will be televised on “Corona
Saturday’s” Channel 5 of Televisa 10:30 pm.
"Adrian Hernandez is one of the strongest WBC world champions,
and this Saturday will be a tough test against Cardoza", said
Sulaiman.
Hernandez, who is from Toluca, State of Mexico said: "In each of
my fights I get a large number of lessons and also learn from my
mistakes. We will climb into the ring to give a great show, to
enjoy the fans in the arena”. And added: “I will make the
maximum number of defenses in the light flyweight division
before thinking of moving to flyweight”.
This meeting was also attended by the American Ava “The lady of
boxing” Knight, who is the WBC Diamond and Silver flyweight
champion, and Linda "Muñeca" Soto, who will be her opponent in
the co-main event of the great boxing card that has been called
“Arde Toluca” (Toluca burns).
Ava said she was very happy to return to fight in Mexico, and
told us about the training she did in the mountains of Big Bear,
California, to defend the WBC Silver flyweight world title
against Linda Soto.
The weigh-in will be open to the public
today at
11:00 am in the Alameda of the City of Toluca, Mexico.
