(DEC 26) Tonight at the
Mackenzie Sports Club, in the Mining Town of Linden, Guyana
there will be a boxing event featuring four professional bouts
and a number of amateur fights. This has been reported as a
"First ever" .
In the Guyana Times they wrote, " All doubts have been removed
and it’s now official. Professional boxers appearing on the
Guyana Boxing Board of Control’s (GBBC) ProAm boxing card slated
for Boxing Day (December 26), on Friday inked their contracts at
the office of Abdool and Abdool Insurance Company in Georgetown.
The card will be staged at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in
the Mining Town of Linden for the first time, featuring four
professional and a similar number of amateur fights."
The Guyana Times went on to report, "History will be created on
Boxing Day (December 26) when the Guyana Boxing Board of Control
(GBBC) takes its ProAm boxing card to the Mining Town of Linden
for the first time."
"Those boxers who have affixed their respective signatures to
the contract documents at Friday’s signing ceremony were Derick
Richmond, James Walcott, Cassius Matthews, Kishan Simon, Kelsie
George, Romeo Norville, Shondell Parks and Shelly Gibson."
In the female bout that is staged to be a heavyweight bout,
Parks and Gibson are scheduled to fight four rounds.
