(SEPT 11) The International
Women's Boxing Hall of Fame [IWBHF], following the historical
induction of seven women into the IWBHF ranks, has begun
preliminary preparation for the second ceremony, scheduled for
Summer 2015.
Speaking of the July 10, 2014 ceremony in a recent interview,
Sue Fox, founder of the IWBHF and WBAN, noted, "the first award
celebration in Florida turned out better and more successful
than I ever even imagined." Media coverage was highlighted by a
"live feed" stream on
www.iwbhf.com and coverage on numerous Internet boxing
sites, extending to such main stream publications as Ring
Magazine.
Additionally, following the event, social media vehicles,
including Facebook, bristled with positive reaction and
congratulatory messages, from the boxing community, praising the
concept of a female boxing hall of fame and the first class of
inductees.
It was clearly the event of the year in the sport of Women's
boxing, prompting the question "how can the second year be
improved?" First and foremost, the sport's fans, who have voiced
their overwhelming support for this Hall of Fame and the initial
group of inductees, will continue to be the primary starting
point for the induction process in 2015. Fan nominations will
continue to be accepted by the IWBHF as the initial step in
determining the finalists for the 2015 induction. Given the
large volume and wide diversity of these nominations in 2014, an
additional processing step will be added for 2015. In lieu of
the fan nominations going directly to the Election Committee for
final selection of the inductees, the field will be refined via
a review of the of the nominations by a three person review
board.
The resulting group of nominees will then be presented to the
Election Committee for the final induction vote, during which
there could, possibly, be slight revisions to the final list of
nominees. The three person committee will be comprised of: Sue
Fox and Rick McLean and Bernie McCoy, two active boxing writers
who cover the sport on a daily and continuing basis.

announced in January of 2015.
