(NOV 15) When it was
announced that UFC fighter Rhonda Rousey was featured on the
cover of RING MAGAZINE, in the January 2016 issue, boxing fans,
including WBAN was incensed, as we had so many excellent top
female boxers to choose from---not to mention the fact our GOLD MEDAL winner in
the OLYMPICS, Claressa Shields could have been featured on the
cover.
HOLLY HOLM, a multi-world
champion in women's boxing, who was set to fight Rousy did not
make the cover even though by all respects WAS A FEMALE BOXER
which would have seemed to have been more appropriate on a
BOXING MAG.
Regardless, anyone who knows
boxing, women's boxing, knew that Rousey was not in the same
class of fighters as HOLLY HOLM, and yet the hype continued at a
nauseating pace----until finally November 14th, Holm entered the
cage and gave Rousy a 101 boxing lesson in the sport, among all
the other techniques she used.
The weigh-in was amusing, some
saying Holm looked scared---are they serious? "That fake sweet
act is all fake" quoting Rousey...Apparently Rousy did not know
who she was tangling with!
Anyone who knew how Holm conducts herself before fights would
know that #1 Holm is not afraid of anyone---they mix up being
"scared" to having class inside and outside the ring.
WBAN has covered countless Holly
Holm fights, in fact Holm winning three WBAN independent world
title belts
along with other belts that were from federations in those
fights.
WBAN would like to give a HUGE "shout out" to Holly Holm, and
her team for this spectacular win, and ah HUGE "shout out" to
OSCAR DE LA HOYA and RING MAGAZINE, that boxing fans would like
to see HOLLY HOLM on the cover of that magazine.
