FT. LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA - June 12, 2015 -
The International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame is proud and
privileged to announce that it's second induction ceremony will
begin with a tribute to our country and those who defend it.
The July 11th event in Fort Lauderdale, FL will begin with a honor
guard presenting the colors, followed by the national anthem
sung by Michaela Paige. Sergeant Major (ret) Jose Morales will
accompany the color guard and Ms. Paige to the ceremony.
SGM Morales is a decorated twenty three year veteran of the
armed forces having served in both the Operation Enduring
Freedom and the Iraqi Freedom campaigns. On 9/11/2001, he was
one of the first responders to the scene at the World Trade
Center and was subsequently honored by the Secretary of the Army
and Mayor Michael Bloomberg as being one of the "First 13
Responders at New York's Ground Zero." He was also a recipient
of the Peace and Freedom Award "for his numerous contributions
on 9/11," from President George W. Bush. A current member of the
Inactive Reserve, SGM Morales is a director of the Freedom
Veterans of America, a non-profit organization based in Miami,
which performs numerous services for veterans in need. He is
also active with community youth, often passing along the boxing
skills that earned him a professional career, under the tutelage
of one time featherweight great Sandy Saddler, prior to Morales
being called to active duty following 9/11.
Michaela Paige is a 19 year old singer from Boca Raton, FL who
earned a spot in the Top 12 with Team Blake, on the NBC hit
reality series "The Voice." She has been featured in USA Today,
Rolling Stone, Access Hollywood and the iTunes Top 100 Chart.
