(AUG 26) Earlier this morning I
was notified of two links to stories that involved the
controversial questionings of Team Christina McMahon, when she
fought Zulina Munoz on March 12, 2016, at the Gimnasio Municipal
"Jose Neri Santos", Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
In one article that is published on the Irish-boxing.com
website, and entitled by writer and written by Joe O'Neill,
"WBC Corruption? – Details of McMahon’s Mexico Nightmare",
dated August 22, 2016. There are several alleged
allegations in this article, concerning pre-fight and post-fight
incidences that had taken place.
There was a second article
published and entitled by the writer and written by Joe O'Neill,
"McMahon suspended by WBC for going public about Mexico farce",
stating that Christina McMahon has been suspended by the World
Boxing Council for going public about the succession of failings
which occurred before, during, and after her WBC super flyweight
title challenge against Zulina Munoz in March.
WBAN has contacted the WBC
sending the above mentioned links and requested a response.
I read the above articles, and in the first paragraph of the
above first-listed linked article, Joe O'Neill wrote:
"Martin ‘Frick’ McMahon has revealed the full and damning
details of the farcical circumstances that surrounded Christina
McMahon’s unsuccessful WBC super flyweight title fight against
Zulina Muñoz on March 12th. With a rematch
long-promised but seemingly no closer to materialising, head
trainer and husband Martin has exclusively told Irish-Boxing.com
the laundry list of reasons – the most important of which being
a succession of serious failings in terms of anti-doping – as to
why the original result should be viewed with suspicion and be
reconsidered a ‘no contest.’
With not wanting to offend Team McMahon or Christina McMahon
who is a very talented fighter, my burning question would be:
Would any of this have been brought up, if McMahon had won this
fight? If there were this many concerns before the fight
took place, to me, I would hope my boxing manager would
have withdrawn me from the fight....
