(DEC 1) "We have studied her and
we're working on a plan," says Sanchez. "I'd like to quote Mike
Tyson on this one: Everybody's got a plan until they get punched
in the face," responds Wahlström.
Women's WBC super featherweight
world title will be on the line on 17th December as the Finnish
champion Eva Wahlström (18–0–1) defends her championship belt
against Argentinian Anahi Esther Sanchez (14–0–0). It's a clash
between two unbeaten fighters, and it's likely going to be the
hardest challenge Wahlström has faced.
Sanchez definitely seems confident of victory. While the
Argentinian praises Wahlström as a "great champion" and sends
her "humble greetings" to Finnish boxing fans, she does point
out that she has never tasted defeat – even as an amateur.
"My preparations have been excellent. I will come to the fight
in great condition," says Sanchez.
"It will be a tought fight, for sure. But there are many great
fighters in Argentina, so all the fights here are hard. We have
analyzed her well and we're working on a plan. I know that if I
want to win anything, I'll have to win clearly and show that I
am better. I will bring the title to my country."
Wahlström isn't impressed. When asked for a comment by Finnish
media, Wahlström said that she "respects Sanchez as a fighter"
but the challenger is out of her depth.
"She might be a fine boxer, but compared to me she's just a
little girl," blasted Wahlström.
"And about that game plan of hers, I'd like to quote Mike Tyson
on that one: Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in
the face. So bring it on."
Wahlström vs. Sanchez part of the "All In" boxing event held in
Hartwall Arena, Helsinki. The event will also host two other
title fights, as Edis Tatli defends his EBU lightweight
championship belt against Manuel Lancia and super middleweight
prospect Niklas Räsänen takes on Mariano Hilario for the EU
title.
Another co-feature is a battle of two heavyweights as Robert
"The Nordic Nightmare" Helenius faces the seasoned veteran
Gonzalo Omar Basile.
The event is promoted by Dominus Boxing Group and will be
televised by Viaplay.
