(OCT 4) On Saturday night, October 6, 2018, at the Wintrust Arena, in Illinois, Chicago, Erica Farias, 26-2-0 (10KO), of Buenos Aires, Argentina, will be fighting Jessica McCaskill, 5-2-0 (3KO), of Chicago, Illinois. Farias will be defending her WBC Super lightweight world title.

Farias last fight took place in October of 2018, when she defeated Yamila Reynoso, and retaining her WBC Super lightweight title, with shutout scores on all judges' scorecards of 100-90, winning all the rounds.

McCaskill's last fight was against Katie Taylor of Ireland, when she fought her first ten-round world title bout, losing by a decision, with the two fighting for the WBA Lightweight title where Taylor was defending her title.

According to a press release, McCaskill is hunting history as Chicago’s first Women’s World champion when she challenges WBC World Super-Lightweight champion Erica Farias on a bumper World title triple-header

This is McCaskill’s second shot at World honors that comes "hot on the heels" of her stirring performance against Lightweight world champion Katie Taylor in London where she pushed the Taylor the distance and posed her plenty of problems in just her seventh pro outing.

Farias will be taking on McCaskill on in her impressive 19th World title bout– but McCaskill is determined to seize her big night with both hands.

McCaskill said that she was thrilled to be fighting Farias for a world title in her home town, and that she feels that Erica is a great world champion, but that she has learned so much from fighting Katie Taylor, and feels she is more than ready to take the title from Erica.

“I’m thrilled to be fighting for a World title in my home town,” said McCaskill. “I know that Erica is a great World champion, but I learned so much from fighting Katie and I feel like I am more than ready to take the title from her.

Farias said that it is fantastic to be fighting McCaskill in Chicago. Farias added, "I know that with the home fans behind her, she will give it her all, but I will rise to the occasion too and put on a great show."
