(MAR 16) Last night at the
Liacouras Center, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Katie Taylor,
133¾, of Bray, Ireland, now 13-0-0 (6KO)added a third world
title to her resume, when she stopped Rose Volante, 133¼, who
received her first loss as a professional, with now a 14-1-0
(8KO) record, when she was stopped in the ninth round.
Taylor now is the proud owner of the WBA, IBF, and WBO
Lightweight world titles.
In the first round,
Taylor did not waste anytime in being aggressive and dominant
right from round one, and Volante went down in that round.
Taylor's next target is Delfine
Persoon, who owns the WBC Lightweight title, and she wants to
unify the lightweight division by fighting for that belt.
Another super fight for Taylor would be to fight the
seven-weight world women's champion, Amanda "The Real Deal"
Serrano.
Taylor said after the fight that
Rose Volante was a very tough opponent, and that she definitely
had a "bit of pop" at the end of her punch. Taylor went on
to say, though that she had a "Great Chin."
Women's Boxing really took a
"great hit" tonight with both of these warriors that put on a
great fight. Boxrec had the bout rated five stars, and
after seeing some of the footage of the fight ---it is of no
wonder.
