(NOV 1) On Friday, November
1, Classic Boxing Promotions proudly presents the return of
Hamilton’s Kylie “Dark” Angel Fallis (3-0-0) against Ana Ruth
Castro (1-1-0) of Tijuana, Mexico, in a featherweight six
rounder at the Children’s Arena in Oshawa. It will both women’s
first crack at the six round distance. Fallis is coming off a
unanimous decision win over the previously undefeated, and
unceasingly game, Johana Fernandez (2-1-1) last April in Oshawa,
where plenty of Dark Angel supporters turned out to cheer on the
rising prospect.
“Whether it’s Castro, Ferdandez, Boka or Palacio, I only have
one outcome in mind. Half the time I don’t even remember the
names of the girls I fight. The plan always remains the same. We
bring to the canvas what we trained for in the gym. To win!”
explained Fallis. “It doesn’t matter who the opponent is. This
is professional boxing. Anything can happen. We go in with a
strong mindset and confidence to go to war. I look forward to
every moment in that ring.”
Fallis embraces each fight as a learning experience, taking that
knowledge into subsequent camps. “Camp for this fight was better
than the last. I evaluated some areas in my last camp that
could’ve been better, and I set out a plan to be better than the
last,” said Fallis. “My coach had me working with girls who are
going to simulate my opponent, and we went to work each and
every week. My coach stuck a few new tools in my back pocket
which we are excited to showcase on Saturday.”
Currently rated in the world’s top-fifty lightweights, Fallis
has big plans for the next year. “There’s no stopping for me. I
just turned 31 and it is no secret that some of the best females
in the world are in their thirties,” explained Fallis. “I have
learned so much in just four professional fights, and I want
nothing more than to earn my spot for a Canadian belt. Whether
or not that happens in 2020, it’s the next big goal for me. We
will remain highly active going into 2020.”
Although Castro will be Fallis’ toughest test to date, the
Hamiltonian is confident she’s put in the work necessary to
leave Oshawa with her perfect record intact. “My prediction for
Saturday is that I’m leaving the ring with an 0 still beside my
name. It’s nothing personal. I always come for the win, and if
you want it, you better earn it. I already know I’ve earned it,
and now I just need to take it.”
Fallis-Castro is part of the undercard for the return of unified
Canadian super lightweight champion Steve Wilcox (21-3-1, 5KOs)
of Hamilton, Ontario, against Gustavo Torres (9-7-1, 4KOs) of
Mexico. Other undercard fights include the return of amateur
national champion and Oshawa favourite Evan Gillard (3-0-0,
1KOs) against once-defeated Brandon Gallardo (3-1-0, 1KOs) of
Ciudad Neza, Mexico, in a light-flyweight six rounder; an
all-Ontario, super-welterweight clash between Thad Ridsdill
(2-1-0, 1KOs) of Oshawa and Mikhail Miller (2-4-1) of Toronto;
the return of national contender Phil “The Assassin” Rose
(9-6-1, 5KOs) of Whitby, Ontario, against heavy-handed brawler
Edgar Mora (5-7-2, 5KOs) of Guadalajara, Mexico; and super
lightweights Dylan Rushton (1-3-1) of Hamilton and Kyle Marsh
(0-3-0) of Peterborough in a provincial rematch.
