JAN 7) Bruce Glozier will be
hosting his next boxing show dubbed “The Fight to Glory” at The
Coris Hotel (Formerly known as the Langham). Glozier will be
continuing promoting Women’s boxing, making his main event
between Tania Reid vs Karen Te Ruki-Pasene.
Right before Christmas, Tania Reid announced on her facebook
that she is signing the contract to an upcoming fight. Today we
find out that the Australasian champion will get her second
chance for the New Zealand title at Coris Hotel on the 29th of
February. Tania first shot was back in 2018 after a unanimous
decision loss to Quinita Hati.
Last year after a loss to Baby Nansen, Tania sacrificed
everything to start training full time to improve her boxing
career and the sacrifice paid off. Tania made history becoming
the first New Zealander to win the women’s Australasian title.
Now with international success, she is back to claim the throne
of best in New Zealand.
Navy women Karen Te Ruki-Pasene will be Tania Reid’s opponent.
Karen made her professional debut back in 2018. So far in her
short pro career, she has not been very active but has proven to
be a tough boxer. In her debut, she won her bout by TKO against
Toni Moki, being the first knockout win in women boxing in New
Zealand in over 18 months.
After a year of inactivity, she made her in-ring return on the
Geovana Peres vs Claire Hafner World title undercard against
former WIBA World champion Gentiane Lupi. Even though she lost
the fight, Karen lost by Split Decision showing she can take on
the best of boxers. Karen will be coming into this fight as the
underdog as she attempts to claim her first title.
This will be a slightly different event that Bruce is doing then
the usual shows that he would do at ABA Stadium. “Just trying to
keep to a more corporate standard for certain shows but will
still use ABA for other events” Bruce Glozier said. He is proud
to be promoting more Women’s boxing in New Zealand. “There is a
growing need in our society to promote the interests of
successful women and this event presents an opportunity for
these two girls to go head to head for the PBCNZ Super
Lightweight title.” Three more Professional fights will be added
to the card and to be announced at a later date.
