Part I–February 2012: The historic
U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Women’s Boxing
by Sue TL Fox
December 30, 2020
(DEC 30) WBAN just published
our first history-first coverage of the historic U.S. Olympic
Team Trials for Women’s Boxing had officially kicked off with
the tournament at the Northern Quest resort. All 24 participants
as well as USA Boxing officials were on hand for the official
event draw, which would determine each of the athletes road to
gold in Spokane, Washington. The U.S. Olympic Team Trials event
draw was done manually with each of the four non-seeded boxers
pulling a numbered ping-pong ball to determine whom they will
face in opening round action that took place that Monday night.
The top four finishers from the
2011 USA Boxing National Championships in the three women’s
Olympic weight divisions would be the top four seeds,
corresponding with their finish in the tournament.
Amateurs who made it to the final 24 USA Amateur Female Boxers.

Queen Underwood, Mikaela Mayer, Franchon Crew-Dezurn, Tiara
