(MAY 24) Lightweight Rashida Ellis (Lynn, Mass.) once again showed why she is a World Championship medalist during her dominating performance over Morocco’s Chaymae Rhaddi. Ellis took all five judges’ cards in impressive fashion to advance to tomorrow’s quarterfinal bout between Nune Asatrian of Russia.

Charlie Sheehy (Brisbane, Calif.) went head-to-head in his second fight of the tournament against Armenia’s Benik Nikoghosyan, with the American lightweight falling just short in a 3-2 decision to move to the medal rounds.

Joining Ellis in tomorrow’s quarterfinal bouts will be Virginia Fuchs (Houston, Texas), Naomi Graham (Fayetteville, N.C.), Anthony Herrera (East Los Angeles, Calif.) and Andrea Medina (San Diego, Calif.). A win tomorrow will move the boxer into the medal rounds and guarantee them at least a bronze medal.
