(MAY 18) Today, 23 years
ago, Women Boxing Archive Network (WBAN) went live on the net.
Would I have thought at the time that it would explode into
being the top coverage and source worldwide, absolutely not.
I barely knew how to put up a website at the time.
I was working as a full-time police detective, but being haunted
that the history of women's boxing did not exist on the net, and
what little existed was grossly inaccurate. I made it my
mission to "Set the Record Straight" historically-wise for the
sport--not knowing for one second I would meet, cover, talk to,
mentor, interview female boxers amateur, pros, world champions,
and more.
Little did I know in May of 1998, that even though I boxed in
the late 1970s as a professional, that many of the same problems
pledged the current female boxers. But with all of this
said, this is how I feel about reaching the 23rd year on the
net.
I am very thankful, appreciative of so many of you in the sport
that supported me in this endeavor, covering fights, writing
countless reports, articles, interviews, photos of fights, and
of venues, and boxers.
I will always say this: WBAN would not be where it is
today if I had not received that massive support and help from
all of you---so it is actually those who helped me all these
years to made WBAN so successful. Thank you,
Sue TL Fox
