(OCT 7) New Zealand born
Australian Cherneka Johnson (Ngāti Ranginui) will make her World
title defence in the Undisputed world title rematch Devin Haney
vs. George Kambosos Jr undercard.
The Tauranga-born IBF World Super
Bantamweight world champion Cherneka Johnson will be defending
her title for the first time, which will be televised in New
Zealand free-to-air on TV 1. Johnson will be defending her title
against Australian boxing legend Susie Ramadan.
Johnson won the title back in April when she defeated highly
credentialed Mexican boxer, Melissa Esquivel. Johnson won the
fight by a close majority decision which was only seen on
Australian TV and online on Fite.tv. Now Johnson will be
defending her title for everyone to see across the world
including on ESPN in the USA.
Currently, Mea Motu (Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi) who is ranked 8th in
the IBF is currently chasing a world title shot against Cherneka
Johnson in hopes to have the first ever Maori vs. Maori world
title fight. Johnson herself however is more interested in
taking on the winner of the Australian vs. Australian world
title fight between IBF Bantamweight champion Ebanie Bridges
defending against Shannon O'Connell.
Johnson's Opponent Susie Ramadan, is a legend in Australian
women's boxing. Ramadan made her professional debut in 2007. She

multiple minor world titles including WBF World titles in
Bantamweight and Super Flyweight divisions in 2009 and 2010, and
the WIBA World Super Flyweight title in 2020.
Susie Ramadan has fought multiple New Zealand boxers in the past
including Michelle Preston twice in 2008 and 2009 and Christina
Tai in 2009. Susie Ramadan and Michelle Preston made history
when they became the first female boxers to fight for the WBC -
OPBF regional title. Ramadan won on all three occasions.
Four other New Zealanders will be on the undercard including the
recently crowned New Zealand Middleweight champion Marcus
Heywood who will be taking on undefeated American Lorenzo
Simpson. Hemi Ahio will be taking on Former Australian Champion,
Samoan Born Australian Faiga Opelu.
The final New Zealand bout on the card will be a New Zealander

David Nyika vs Titi Motusaga. Both boxers are undefeated with 4
wins with both boxers 3 wins by KO.
Nyika has fought in multiple countries including New Zealand, UK
and twice in Australia. Motusaga has had easy four wins against
bad record boxers.
