(JAN 11) Sequita Hemingway is currently in negotiations to have a rematch against Lani Daniels in March. Daniels themselves is also in negotiations for a major world title fight in May.

Hemingway has just come off two losses against Lani Daniels from April and Alrie Meleisea for a New Zealand Heavyweight title back in December. Now that Daniels and Meleisea both have wins over Hemingway, they are in negotiations for a world title fight in Auckland in May.

Lani Daniels from Pipiwai, Northland, has expressed interest in having one more fight before her possible historic New Zealander vs. New Zealander, Maori vs Samoa World title fight. Not only does Hemingway express interest in a rematch against Daniels, but a win for Hemingway could also put her back on track for World title status and put Daniels in the back of the line. Furthermore, a win for Hemingway would create an opportunity to turn into a trilogy.

If the fight does happen and Hemingway wins, She would need at least two more wins to be a contender for a shot at a world title championship. Negotiations are taking place with Auckland's Promoter Craig Thomson, who has been a professional boxing promoter in New Zealand for 16 years, with this possibly being his 60th event.

Further details are yet to be released, including venue, how many rounds, weight division, or even title. Two possible dates are on the table for the fight. The 10th or 11th of March, but the 10th is the preferred date, with it likely to occur in Auckland.

Sequita Hemingway is already in fight camp, in case the fight gets confirmed, where Lani Daniels will be starting next week. If Daniels's fight does not happen, a large selection of boxers, including Sarah Long, Nailini Helu, Tessa Tualevao, Ashley Campbell and Tinta Smith, could take her place. However, a win over Helu and Long would be a significant win that could improve her rankings.

Before Hemingway's fight against Alrie Meleisea, Sarah Long's management contacted the Hemingways team to discuss a possible match. Long a former New Zealand Heavyweight champion when she won the title in 2018.

Nailini Helu has had four attempts in her career to win a professional boxing title but won a South Pacific title in 2022 in her fifth attempt. Helu started her career as a Heavyweight before moving to the Super Middleweight division last year.

Lani Daniels will be coming into this fight against Sequita Hemingway as a warm-up fight before her second world title opportunity. Hemingway, who has a professional rugby and rugby league player background, has learnt a lot this past year in her new profession as a professional boxer. Hemingway could have enough skills to shake up the New Zealand Heavyweight division again.
