(SEPT 3) ANBF Australasian
Super Flyweight champion Holly McMath (Waikato Tainui/Ngāti
Māhanga) will be going for her next Australasian title in
October in possibly her retirement fight.
Mother of two, Holly McMath (4 - 3 - 0) has booked her next
ticket to fight in Sydney, NSW, Australia, where she will take
on Mai Soliman for the vacant MASA Australasian Super Flyweight
title on 20 October with Neutral Corner promotions. However,
this may be the final fight of her boxing career.
McMath recently won her version of the Australasian title when
she defeated the former NSW State champion Sarah Watt last month
in Auckland by unanimous decision. She became the third New
Zealand female to win the ANBF Australasian title, behind Lani
Daniels and Tania Reid.
McMath has a significant amateur boxing background, winning the
New Zealand National Amateur Boxing Championships twice in her
amateur career (2018, 2021), and has multiple victories over
2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Tasmyn Benny.
Outside of boxing, McMath competed in multiple Muay Thai and
Kickboxing bouts to keep active in combat sports.
In 2020, McMath made her professional boxing debut, taking on
Elli Bliss Reynolds. She would return to professional boxing in
2022 when she took on 2-time world title contender Michelle
Preston and current WIBA World Champion Jasmine Parr. From these
first three fights of her pro career, they were all incredibly
close fights, with two of them arguably should have gone the
other way.
In December 2022, McMath began her win streak when she defeated
Sarah Linton, Lorraine Robson in March, Emma Nesbitt in June,
and Sarah Watt last month. McMath now starting to have bigger
international fights. However, this could be the last fight of
her career.
She will be taking on Egypt-born Australian boxer Mai Soliman.
Solimon is the current MASA Australasian Bantamweight champion.
She made her professional boxing debut in July 2022 when she
defeated Ali Jensen. Solimon has only lost one professional loss
in her career, against Bec Moss for the ANBF Australasian
Flyweight title.
Solimon had had two decent wins in her last fight when she
defeated former WBA Oceania champion Sarah Higginson by
stoppage. In her last fight, she defeated New Zealand-born boxer
Nicila Costello for the MASA Australasian Bantamweight title.
This fight is known for the first women's professional boxing
fight in the southern hemisphere to compete over 3-minute
rounds.
Holly McMath vs. Mai Soliman for the vacant MASA Australasian
Super Flyweight title will happen on 20th October with Neutral
Corner promotions in Sydney, NSW, Australia. It is unknown now
if the event will be live-streamed online. If the event is
live-streamed, use the link provided by the boxing promoter and

McMath boxes out of Mayhem Boxing under Terry Batchelor. The
same boxing team that trains former WBO World Light Heavyweight
Champion Geovana Peres, 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games
Bronze Medalist Troy Garton and 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth
Games Bronze Medalist Uila Mau'u.
McMath is of Maori descent on her farther side from Raglan with
Waikato Tainui and Ngāti Māhanga.
