LAS VEGAS, NV [February 27, 2025]  In an exciting announcement for boxing enthusiasts and advocates of women’s boxing, Mayor Shelley Berkley of the City of Las Vegas has proclaimed April 5, 2025, as "International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame Day." This proclamation marks a significant milestone for the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF), which will host its annual induction ceremony at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. This year’s event promises not just celebration but also recognition of the extraordinary contributions women have made to the sport of boxing, and those outside the ring, male and female who have contributed tremendously to the sport of women’s boxing.

A Historic Tradition: The IWBHF's Legacy

The IWBHF has been pivotal in honoring female boxers and their achievements since its inception. This year’s event, titled “Night of the Stars 2,” will continue this proud tradition. It is particularly noteworthy that this proclamation is the third time the IWBHF has received such recognition from the City of Las Vegas, following similar accolades in 2021 and 2023.

Highlighting Heroes: Women Cops Who Box

Adding a unique twist to this year’s festivities, the first day of the event will spotlight “Women Cops Who Box.” Scheduled for April 4, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Salon ballroom at the Orleans Hotel & Casino, this pre-celebration will honor 13 remarkable female boxers who have served or currently serve in law enforcement. Some of these incredible women are past or present world champions, embodying the dual spirit of athleticism and dedication to public service. This event offers a wonderful opportunity to recognize their hard work and resilience, showcasing role models who inspire both in and out of the ring.

The Main Event: Induction Ceremony and Gala

The highlight of the IWBHF weekend will undoubtedly be the induction ceremony on April 5, where 20 elite inductees will be honored, in addition to seven (7) Special Award Recipients. Beginning at 5:00 PM, the evening promises a meet-and-greet, followed by a plated dinner at 6:00 PM, leading into the main event at 7:00 PM. Attendees can expect a semi-formal affair filled with celebration, reflection, and acknowledgment of the women and those outside the ring, male and/or females who have paved the way for future generations of female boxers.

This gala not only celebrates individual achievements within the ring but also reinforces the importance of women’s contributions to boxing culture as a whole. As Mayor Berkley expressed in her proclamation, the IWBHF enriches the cultural fabric of Las Vegas and enhances the vibrant diversity of the community.

Join the Celebration: Tickets and Participation

For those interested in being part of this historic occasion, tickets are available for this two-day event. Engaging in the celebrations provides a fantastic opportunity to witness firsthand the incredible stories and accomplishments of women in boxing, and those who have contributed significantly outside the ring, male and/or female. Whether you’re a boxing aficionado or simply looking to support a worthy cause, this weekend of events promises to be memorable. For ticket purchases or more information, go here: IWBHF Tickets.

As we look forward to April 5, 2025, it’s essential to recognize the significance of this day. The proclamation from Mayor Berkley stands as a testament to the progress being made in the sport and it highlights the inspiring journeys of female athletes. Let’s come together to celebrate these champions and their undeniable impact on the world of boxing and beyond.
