Baumgardner vs. Miranda Added as Co-Main Event with Taylor vs. Serrano 3
by Ron Scarfone
April 9, 2025

(APRIL 9) Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner of Detroit, Michigan will be defending her WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO super featherweight titles against Jennifer Miranda of Spain.   Miranda holds the interim WBA featherweight title, so she will be moving up in weight to face Baumgardner on July 11th at Madison Square Garden in New York.  The fight will be the co-main event with the third fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.  Taylor won the first fight against Serrano and the rematch by controversial decisions.  It will be an all-women’s boxing event with more announcements to come for additional bouts.  The event is promoted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and will be live streamed on Netflix.

Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs) lost to Christina Linardatou of Greece by split decision in July 2018, but won the rematch about four years later in July 2023 by unanimous decision.Linardatou has been inactive since her loss to Baumgardner.  However, it seems that she intends to continue her boxing career based on her social media.Linardatou is no longer rated by the sanctioning bodies of the belts that Baumgardner holds due to her inactivity.  However, she is still rated No. 3 in the super featherweight division by the Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA).  Perhaps there will be a trilogy between Baumgardner and Linardatou, but the focus is now on Miranda.

Miranda is undefeated with a record of 12-0, 1 KO which is the same record that Skye Nicolson had before she recently lost her WBC featherweight title to Tiara Brown.  Miranda won the interim WBA featherweight title by defeating Teresa Almengor in October 2024 by unanimous decision.  The WBA decided to have an interim title because WBA featherweight champion Amanda Serrano has not defended her title in over a year.  Serrano also holds the WBO and IBO featherweight titles.  Serrano will be fighting Taylor in the main event for Taylor’s WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, and IBO super lightweight titles.

Miranda believes that she is capable of defeating Baumgardner.  Miranda is one of the best featherweight boxers in the world.  Miranda is rated as the No. 2 featherweight contender by the computerized ratings of the International Boxing Organization (IBO).  Skye Nicolson is rated as the No. 1 featherweight contender by the IBO.  The world champions for each division are listed above and separate from the contender ratings list.

Baumgardner believes that she will win and retain her titles against Miranda.  It was revealed in March that Baumgardner had signed with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).  This fight will be the first time that Miranda has fought outside of Spain in her pro career.  Baumgardner will be by far the best opponent that Miranda has ever faced.  Baumgardner and Miranda are both the same height at 5’6”.
