(FEB 26) IOC EB urges all International Federations to relocate or
cancel their sports events currently planned in Russia or Belarus
The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
reiterated today the IOC’s strong condemnation of the breach of the
Olympic Truce by the Russian government and the government of Belarus
through its support in this. The respective UN resolution was adopted by
the UN General Assembly on 2 December 2021 by consensus of all 193 UN
Member States. The Olympic Truce began seven days before the start of
the Olympic Games, on 4 February 2022, and ends seven days after the
closing of the Paralympic Games.

(FEB 26) 18 year old Matvii Razhba has spent months training for a
major national boxing tournament scheduled for two weeks from now and
was hoping for a win, the next step toward his dream of boxing for
Ukraine in the 2024 Olympics. “At the age of 10 I went into boxing,” he
said. “I realized that I could defend the honor of my country in the
ring and glorify our beloved Ukraine.”

Japan: Mika Iwakawa to fight
Nanae Suzuki for WBO World Title

(FEB 24) Tomorrow night at the Korakuen Hall in Japan, in
a rematch between these two, Miki Iwakawa, 10-5-1 (3KO), of Himeji, Hyogo,
Japan, will be facing Nanae Suzuki, 10-4-1 (1KO), of Ichikawa, Chiba, Japan.
The two will be fighting ten rounds for the WBO Atom World title. Iwakawa
had previous win the title in Sept. of 2020.

(FEB 22) The International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF)
inductees skew heavily, in number, toward the retired boxers upon whom
the sport has made it’s often arduous climb to it’s rightful place in
the spectrum of professional sports. That circumstance is entirely as it
should be, for without these athletes, their finely developed skill in
the ring and their indomitable struggle for rightful recognition outside
the ropes, Women’s boxing might still be a second rate attraction,
drawing sideshow attention for many of the wrong reasons.

Natasha Jonas Fulfills her dream of
becoming a World Champion

(FEB 20) Last night on the Amir Khan-Kell Brook boxing card, held in
Manchester, 37-year-old Natasha Jonas finally fulfilled her dream to
become a world champion. In order to have this challenge she needed to
move up three weight classes to fight Uruguay’s Chris Namus. The two
were fighting for the vacant WBO Super-welterweight title. Namus was a
late replacement for Jonas previous opponent, due to Covid.

14-year record for most held New Zealand titles in women's boxing. Mea
Motu won her third New Zealand national title in the third weight

Management banner all had their hand raised in victories in three
locales over two countries. Five of those fights took place at the Hard
Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 2021 U.S. Olympian Tiger
Johnson won a four-round unanimous decision over Xavier Madrid in a
battle of undefeated welterweights. Johnson landed 83 of 263 punches;
Madrid was 45 of 235.
