March 30, 2001 -Fort Knox Fightnight Promotion
Other Prelims: Inaugral Australian Women's Junior Middleweight Title
Cathy Zutt 65.25 WTKO4 (cuts) Rain Mako 65.85... Bit of an
upset, this one and a disappointing end to what promised to be a good bout.
Cathy is very compact in her stance. Elbows held in tight, gloves up against
the side of her face. She moved well. Rain was the taller, rangier boxer of
the two and used her height and reach effectively against the shorter Zutt.
Rain focused on her opponents head, while Cathy worked underneath, until she
threw one over the top which cut Mako's brow. The ref called the doc, who
signaled the wound was bad enough for the fight to be stopped. Both ladies
were well turned out and a credit to not only women's boxing, but the fight
game generally. Report comes from The Australian Professional Boxing Page
