bout in 1:10 seconds of the first round! Crockett, 1351/2, of Los Angeles,
wasted little time to make it an early night for Jocelyn Grace, 134,

In front of a crowd of over 800 boxing
fans, WIBA and WBL featherweight champion Sharon Anyos defeated 30-year-old
Holly Ferneley of Newton. Ferneley
suffered a cut eye from a clash of heads. Ferneley was surprised at
the ferocity of the first two rounds when she survived a relentless attack
from Anyos. According to news sources, Ferneley was determined
to stay on her feet for the six "spirited" rounds. Ferneley was
quoted as saying that she was fighting for "her" sport, and that
"it was fun." Anyos said that Ferneley was a good
fighter and that the fight was "serious." Apparently Anyos
won every round of the fight, but was still feeling the affects of
"ring rust." Ferneley has a battle of her own going on right now
OUTSIDE THE RING. Ferneley is suing the state of NSW and the NSW Boxing
Authority in Federal Court claiming the ban on female boxing in NSW
discriminates against women---looks like Discrimination is alive and

Gold Coast faced Edith Smith, (53.3kg) for the O.B.A. Oceanic
Bantamweight Title over 6 rounds, Pauline took control of the fight in the
first two rounds landing some good combinations with Edith keeping her head
very low and throwing punches over her Shoulders only hitting her target
occasionally, round three was an even affair with both girls landing
punches, the pace picked up in the 4th round Smith was hitting her target
with more regularity and was standing her ground and started charging in
with Kamikaze style aggression, the crowd wanted the local girl to win but
the judges saw the fight different and crowned Smith as the New Oceanic

Renee Richardt-Douglass won a four-round unanimous decision over
Jennifer Rogge in the 123-lb Jr. Featherweight division. The event was promoted
by Jim Howell. Douglass improved her record to 5-0-1 (1KO), and Rogge fell to

At the "sold-out" Riot at the Hyatt in Monterey, California, Marilyn
Salcido won a four-round unanimous decision over Mary Duron in a
toe-to-toe non-stop action in a super flyweight fight. Final scoring by
judges was 40-36, 40-36, and 39-37. Salcido is 6-2-2, Duron 3-2-0. November 24, 2001, Germany
At the gym of Universum Box-Promotion, Regina Halmich defended her
WIBF Jr. Flyweight title against Svetla Taskova with a unanimous
decision. Final scoring of the fight was 99-92, 98-93, and 98-92. Halmich is
now 38-1 (13KO). Also, Michelle Aboro retained her WIBF Jr.
featherweight title over Nadja Debras, winning all rounds, with a
final scoring of 100-90 all judges.

24, 2001 - TRAC Arena, Tri-Cities, Pasco, Washington
In front of 600 boxing fans, and Tri-Cities first professional boxing card
in over 20 years, Laramie HInostroza of Emporia, Kansas, won a split
decision over Bellevue, Washington's Lynn Yang in a super-lightweight
matchup. The fight was a "battle" between the two according
to news sources. The event started over an hour and a half late
due to the required ambulance being sent to Yakima instead of the TRAC
arena. The event was co-promoted by Jim Hagen of Oregon Trail
Promotions.

Cathy Brown won a six-rounder over Audrey Guthrie for the WBF
European Flyweight title. WBAN has Guthrie's record at 0-3-0

Middleweights Leaticia Robinson of Chicago TKO1 1:48 Genevia
Buckhalter of Columbus, Mississippi. Robinson who has an extensive
amateur background of (37-1), moved her record to 5-0 (4KO).
Buckhalter has dropped to 2-9-1 (2KO). November 20, 2001 - Humble, Texas
Freeda Foreman, 160, (5-0-0 4KO), fighting out of Houston, Texas,
lost a four-round split decision against Evelyn Rodriguez, 160,
(0-3). Rodriguez did not have a win on her professional record, but the
boxers she did stepped into the ring with were some of the best in the
world! Rodriguez had fought Kathy Rivers, Vienne Williams and
unknown Stacy Lewis. Harry Murdock, Mahfood’s trainer/manager, was
there in Humble at the fight, and reported the fight between Foreman and
Rodriguez as it was happening! Murdock said that George Foreman was
working Freeda’s corner this night. Murdock reported the following:
In the first round,
Murdock said that Freeda appeared to be in very good shape, and went
toe-to-toe with Rodriguez. Rodriguez was throwing some good straight punches
and looked like she had some ring experience. He gave the round to
Rodriguez. Murdock said that Freeda did not throw wild punches
but was shortening her punches and using more technique. In
round two, the scoring could have gone either way. The action
continued and the boxing fans loved it. Freeda was definitely a draw and
favorite tonight as the crowd called out her name during the fight. In
round three, Freeda threw some nice combinations, but did not
seem to faze Rodriguez. Freeda landed two big rights, and Murdock had her
winning this round. In the fourth
and final round, both fighters touched gloves, and then the fight was on…Rodriguez
landed 4-5 good punches at the beginning of the round. Rodriguez then
switched to a southpaw stance. Freeda was also delivering an arsenal of her
own with Rodriguez. Rodriguez had Freeda on the ropes at one point during
the round. Final scoring, 39-37 Rodriguez, 39-37 Foreman, 39-37 Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has added her first win on her record to 1-3-0, and Foreman fell
to 5-1-0 (3KO). There was a second four-round women’s bout on the
card between Monica McGowan, 183, and Tina Miller, 185.
McGowan appeared to be in better condition in this bout. Miller had
the reach on McGowan as she is about 6'2". McGowan easily won the
last two rounds, and she pulled off a unanimous decision with final scoring
by all judges as 40-36. There were no knockdowns.
November 17, 2001 - Las Vegas, Nevada
Christy Martin won a 10-round unanimous
decision over Lisa Holewyne. According to news sources, Martin
had Holewyne wobbling in the second and fourth rounds, and had won eight or
nine of the 10 rounds on the judges' cards, final scoring 99-91,
98-92, 98-92. Martin improved her record to 44-2-2, and Holewyne dropped to
14-8-1.
November 16, 2001 Australia
Rain Mako (69.75kg), defeated newcomer Karen O'Brien (69.80kg)
with a split decision at
Fort Knox, in Melbourne, Australia, this past Friday night on November 16th.
Les Anyos said that Karen showed great style and "heart" in her
pro debut against Mako who was the favorite starter as the more
experienced." He went on to say, Karen took the fight to Mako from the beginning to the last second this,
and that this would not have been an easy fight to score by the
judges. Anyos commented about Karen, "Keep your eyes open for Karen O'Brien."

Ann Wolfe vs. Gina Nicholas - TKO3.
Wolfe earned new WIBA 154 lb. World title; Sumya Anani vs. Fredia Gibbs - Maj. Draw
-Neither fighter walked away with the 140-lb WIBA title, final scoring 94-94,
94-94, 96-92; Valerie Mahfood vs Trina Ortegon- Mahfood won by a unanimous
decision. Mahfood won the WIBA Super-middleweight title. Final scoring
98-92, 96-94, 96-94; Chevelle Hallback vs. Snodene Blakeney--
stopped in the second round after an accidental head butt. Result of the
fight was a technical draw, and neither boxer won the title this
night; Mary Ortega vs. Ada Velez - Velez by unanimous
decision. Final scoring - 96-93, 98-91, 98-91. Velez won the 122-lb WIBA
world title; Linda Tenberg vs. Jessica Mohs - Tenberg by
Unanimous decision, final scoring 40-36 all judges.
November 16, 2001 - Cranston, Rhode Island
Lightweights Melissa Fiorentino of Cranston, R.I., TKO1 over Vanessa
Pine. Fiorentino was making her pro debut. Fiorentino has a very
good amateur boxing record that included winning the 2000 USA Boxing
National 139-lb amateur champion. Fiorentino is now 1-0-0 (1KO), and
Pine fell to 1-1-0 (1KO).
November 15, 2001 Bakersfield, California
Jenifer Alcorn, 133, went to 10-0 won by an easy unanimous
decision over Shakurah Witherspoon, 128. All three judges scored the
fight 60-53. According to WBAN inside sources, Witherspoon went down
hard in the first round and got up and grabbed Jenifer and pulled her top
partially off. The top was reattached between rounds and the fight
continued. Witherspoon was in trouble again in the second round and
managed to pull the top down again. At that point, the top was
repaired in the corner and taped and the fight went the distance from there.
Shakura was warned several times for holding tactics but managed to survive
the fight with holding and movement, but did show courage being hurt several
times and refusing to quit.

Kanicia Eley, 141, won a four-round unanimous
decision over Connie Bechtel,137, in a Jr. welterweight division.

Patricia Acosta,
128, won a decision over Alice Yauger, 129 in a four-rounder.
Alice told WBAN, "I did avenge my loss, but I didn't get the decision.
I know I won that fight, and her face knows it too."

Shirvelle Williams of Florida won a four-round unanimous
decision over Erica Schmidlin of Dearborn, Michigan. Final
scoring was 40-35 on all judges scoring. News sources reported that Williams kept
Schmidlin pinned on the ropes for most of the fight Schmidlin took a
standing eight count in the final round. Williams remains undefeated
with 4-0 (3KO). Schmidlin dropped to 1-4-0 (0KO).

Canadian Jessica Rakoczy remained undefeated after
winning a decision over Michelle Linden of Florida. Linden just recently relocated to Las Vegas and began training at
Prince Ranch. Rakoczy improved her record to 8-0-0 (2KO), and Linden dropped to
6-3-0 (6KO).

Nancy Joseph won a six round decision over Marian Pampuk in a
six-rounder. WBAN's inside reporter said that it was an easy win for Joseph.
Pampuk was knocked down in the first 20 seconds of the first round with a
left hook delivered by Joseph. The worst rounds for Pampuk were
in the fifth and sixth round. Some thought that the ref should have stopped
the fight after the fifth round. Joseph remains undefeated with a
5-0-0 (2KO) record. Pampuk has dropped to a winless record of 0-6-0 (0KO).
